Logistics

The Industry

The physical movement of goods and cargo from one point to another is the primary definition of the term Logistics. Commercial trade is the backbone of economies. Goods made at one point (either because it is commercially viable or intrinsically available or cultivated) being transported to another point where they are to be used or consumed, has spawned off an entire system that supports this activity. Transportation, Material movement, Loading – Unloading, Warehousing and Storage etc are specialized sub sets of this Industry.

The Issue

Prima facie physical goods have intrinsic value. Transporting them from one point to another in the exact same condition, in quantity and/or quality, make them more valuable. This in itself is a specialized job for all companies engaged in the logistics business. Security is a huge issue for these companies who are responsible for these goods when in transit or in temporary possession, out of bounds of both the purchaser and the seller who are at different locations. Goods-In-transit and Goods-in-storage need to be protected. They have to be protected against

  • Quantity Loss : Theft or Pilferage for packaged solid items
  • Quality Loss : Adulteration in transit typically experienced in products like Chemicals, Fuel oils, food and food products

In today’s world, the logistics industry is not only the target of such organized theft, but also faces a bigger risk of enemies of humanity using this mode as a conduit for bigger damage.

The Secure Seals Solution

Eliminating or minimizing the loss in transit is the onus of the companies engaged in the business of transportation and storage. Secure Seals India Private Limited has a product line that specifically addresses this exact problem faced by companies in the Logistics vertical to secure their cargo in motion or in storage.
Goods movements by Surface (Road or Rail), Sea or Air have their peculiar problems and in each of these a solution exists.
Goods are packed in their original packing and bulk packed in containers. If the goods are in liquid state or chemicals they require specialized controlled environments for transfer and here tankers are used. At the point of loading, the same is measured for volume, weight and quantity and sealed.
The same seal is then opened at the point of unloading.
The seals act as both a solution to mitigate the risk and considerably reduce the risk and chances of pilferage as the evidence of tamper, if attempted, is evident and the point of discovery narrowed down. Sealing acts as a powerful deterrent against theft.

Secure Seals has in its portfolio the following seals that are specifically apt for the applications in this industry and they are

  • Secure Lock Seals
  • Secure Bottle Seals
  • Secure Strap Seals
